Switch To Wordpress

I have recently decided to switch over The Palm Beach Brunette to wordpress. There are various reasons for this but I am excited to be able to customize by site more and continue to make content for all of you! From now on I will not be posting to my Blogger website so check out my Word Press site.

Here's the link: http://thepalmbeachbrunette.wordpress.com

Atlanta Apparel Mart

I just arrived back to the beautiful Florida State University after a long weekend full of fashion shows, presentations, and shopping at the Apparel Mart in Atlanta, Georgia. This is the largest trade mart/trade show in the world with over 7 million square feet of space. It was incredible walking into what seemed like an endless building.

We got to speak with buyers from different companies and see some showrooms including David Tutera who makes beautiful bridal gowns as well as prom dresses.

My personal favorite show room was BCBG who has a permanent space where buyers from New York go to look at the new collections and chose what to put in their stores.

Being able to attend the Atlanta mart was an incredible experience that was very insightful. If you ever have the opportunity to attend I would completely recommend it.

Zara Lace-Up High Heels

I love getting a new pair of shoes. Especially when they are a pair that I see as unique and thats what I saw with the Zara Lace-Up High Heels. With the great price point of $49.90 they were a great deal and very versatile. I can see myself dressing up a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans and a t-shirt with these or pairing them with a nice dress for a special event. They have the block heel that was all over the runway for fall and for the upcoming spring. The heels are 4.13" tall so they give you a nice hight but are extremely comfortable and easy to walk in. And of course I love the ballerina touch of the dainty laces (being and ex ballerina myself.)

Ulta Goodies

Iv'e noticed a really bad habit forming since coming to college- online shopping. Since I have no car here I have to get most of my stuff online and with that comes spending at least $50 to get free shipping (even if I only need one thing and the shipping is $5). Since this month Ulta had its '21 Days of Beauty' deals and I desperately needed new Clarisonic brush heads I placed an order. I bought two Acne Cleansing brush heads (it was BOGO, score!) I have only used the sensitive brush heads so I'm excited to see if these help keep my evil acne away. I also was reading a blog post from fashion week and saw this product: Jolen Creme Bleach w/ Aloe; makeup artists use this to bleach model's eyebrows. Now although no eyebrows looks cool on a catwalk, thats not exactly the look I'm going for- I am going to try this out on my upper lip (hey I'm just keepin' it real) because hair does grow there. Now to complete the $50 I've been wanting to try out more Living Proof products so I got the 'No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream' which came with samples of the shampoo, conditioner, and styling cream from the PDH line (which I've been dying to try). Finally, for my samples I received 'Something Blue' by Oscar de la Renta and 'Intenso' by Dolce & Gabbana (I just wrote a post about their S/S line, check it out!- no shame self-promo). And I made sure to include a cute little note for myself motivating me to keep studying because well, it was free and why not.

                                                                                                    Truly yours, Taylor

p.s. I will be doing reviews on all of these products so check back later.

Dolce and Gabbana Spring/Summer 2016

So I know I haven't been covering fashion week but after seeing the Dolce and Gabbana Spring/Summer 2016 show in Milan I’m squirming with excitement. I LOVE when spring/summer collections actually look like spring/summer collections- as in not every outfit is a dark, muted abstract design- don't get me wrong I’m obsessed with everything Alexander Wang, but its a nice change. For me spring/summer is the time to be fresh and fun and this collection did just that. The heart of Italy is captured in the graphic dresses and colorful headscarfs. I WANT EVERY PAIR OF SHOES. Block heels, pom poms, and random asian influences makeup this beautifully done collection. I love how simple the thought process was behind this line, but how detailed the pieces are. Going back to the roots of Italian fashion and using the traditional embroidery and embellishments make for gorgeous skirts and purses. Watching this show will not bore anyone and I couldn't help but smile at all of the fun and selfie-action.

Here are a few of my favorite looks:

Dolce and Gabbana 2

I can see the middle girl vacationing in Capri.

Dolce & Gabbana 1
Obsessed with this green metallic suit, and theres that Asian spice I mentioned on the right.
What did you think of the show?

Keeping Up With Kylie

As the youngest in the Kardashian-Jenner empire Kylie Jenner is just starting to make a name for herself becoming an it-girl when it comes to fashion and beauty. After only two days of her app launching it earned the number one spot on the App store beating out all of her sisters who also launched their own apps. Any user can get a free 7 day trial but after that it costs $2.99 per month. The app ranges from ‘#tbt” with vintage pics of Kylie with her friends and family to ‘Neeeeed’ where Kylie shows her latest fashion crazes. Amongst my favorite sections are ‘Cop My Style’ where she posts her favorite outfits and includes more affordable options and ‘Help! My Face Is F#cked!’ where she and co-host Gigi Gorgeous make videos about their favorite beauty secrets. Kylie also does live-streams which are very casual looks into her every day life (my favorite was her and her sisters dancing to Justin Bieber). The app is really nice aesthetically and contains a lot of great content. As one of Kylie’s first big projects I think she did a really great job and I’m excited to see what she does next.

Creatures of the Wind Spring 2016 Makeup

When I saw the work of makeup artist Aaron de Mey for Creatures of the Wind Spring/Summer 2016 I couldn't help but write a post about it. All the attention is drawn to the eyes for these makeup looks. Chunky gold glitter and black smoked out shadow made this show's makeup a stand-out. Graphic cat eyes were paired with bold red lips for an edgy addition to this spring style. I always get excited when I see glittery eyes on the runway. Many people think that this is the reminisce of the middle school days (before we knew how to actually apply makeup) but I completely disagree. Adding glitter to the eyes can be done very tastefully and can add a touch of elegance to any makeup.

Get the look:

Creatures of the Wind

For a wearable take on this look use any gel or liquid liner to create a regular cat eye. Use a gold glitter eyeliner and draw a thin line above the black cat eye. Pair with a matte red lip and you have the perfect holiday party look.
